| So on the VP Debate. I actually am a bit impressed with Palin
because I honestly thought she was going to run off the stage crying due to sucking.
Although for being a straight talker, she sure did zig zag alot on the
questions by not giving direct answers. She definitely seemed
confident but I feel as though she made sure to give her predetermined
comments on various issues above actually answering rebuttals or the
moderator's questions, atleast in some instances. Biden could cite instances where he voted this way or when McCain or other senators voted that way but Palin had to fall back on what her party's stance was on issues or what John McCain did on this bill or that bill.
And as someone who knows a little bit about economics and finance, I
didn't really like her (republicans) answer for the taxes and economic crisis. And
just remember this. Low to no taxes = low to no $$ for the govt. Low
to no $$ for the govt = Low to no $$ for public schools and other govt programs. Her party
makes it sound like taxes are like the plague to society. It has a
purpose but like everything you can't overdo it. Either we pay slighty
higher taxes now or we pay much higher taxes later to cover the 10
trillion dollar US debt. Also when the govt gets $$ in taxes, since it
is a like a non-proft, it has to give that money out by either 1) hiring
more govt employees or 2) spending the money out to contractors that
employ alot of people in the US and Northern VA. Who pays for say Booz Allen employees? You and me and our TAXES. So taxes still CREATES jobs to support the
govt. This is opposite of what John McCain and Sarah Palin say with regards to taxes. Then so those people at say Booz Allen spend their money at places like Best Buy and
that CREATES jobs with that money. The Best Buy cashier goes and then spends his money at McDonalds, which CREATES jobs, etc, etc. I TAUGHT THIS TO A 2ND GRADE CLASS AND THEY GOT IT. It is not like tax money is used and just disappears
forever...oh wait it does and that is called the deficit...
I would glad to be a republican and let private industries take care of everything and in principal that is true. But what messes up the law of supply and demand, that could fix everything, is people. So you have to have someone come in and take control at times. That is the govt.
Here is another strange occurence. We Christians see the business world as cutt throat and not good. Yet a good amount of them then back Republicans who in principal want private industries to take care of everything and have less govt. regulation (that is part of the general definition of a modern Republican). So then wouldnt that mean you then let the cutt throat business world thrive since now there is nothing holding them back from making as much money as possible in any way possible? Now the natural law of supply and demand would fix this except if you take what i said in the prior paragraph and then you apply the fact that people mess up the basic law then everything would become more messed up since less govt regulation means less rules!
Either way it doesn't change my vote although Palin seems pretty nice,
literally like your mom. She seemed sincere. I give her a B+ / A- for
today but still a C or D overall. Because how many Katie Couric
incidents does she need to go through before she can be like tonight? | | |
| I really hope that people vote by using their God given brains and not vote for one candidate or party because one is technically more Christian or conservative than the other. This is a country built around a Constitution drafted by men who understood the importance of the separation of church and state for the growth and success of the objective and spirit of this nation which is essentially one word. Freedom. Freedom to believe in what you want whether or not we agree. Freedom to not face persecution. Freedom to be as conservative or liberal as you want as long as you dont obtrude in other liberties given to each man and woman. Freedom to not let this country go the other direction and go crazy from too much freedom. The USA is supposed to be a shining star to the other nations of the world that people can coexist around one core principle of freedom. As important as each founding father's faith was to themselves, and their faiths varied wildly, they understood the greater cause of separating church and state to allow people of all walks and paths, of all degrees and levels of faith, to come and live in meaningful coexistence probably understanding that whether or not someone believes in God, God is going to be watching them and this beautiful country that He created. They also understood that despite their own wishes regarding the faith binding this nation that one's desire for freedom, no matter what their faith is, will be so powerful that it will unite men and women under the name of this nation. We should respect that.
And yes I understand that the US is a republic and not a pure democracy. And yes I understand that many of the founding fathers had slaves during the time of the drafting of the constitution. And that slaves didnt get their freedom until the 13th amendment or that women didnt get the right to vote until the 19th amendment. History provides answers for these that go beyond this entry.
So go ahead America, vote for whoever you want because it is your right to choose whoever you feel like. I just hope you do it using an informed rational mindset. I am pretty sure God is in control no matter which candidate we choose. Just dont blame me in 4 years complaining about the president you chose. (which is what people are doing now...)

| Here is a little lesson in how things work today.
People complain about gas but took gas for granted by buying big fat 10mpg SUVs when gas was 99 cents a gallon. The big automobile complain that Congress wants to mandate mpgs on cars to 35mpg because it will kill them. Where were they when they were making those profitable SUVs when the japanese automakers were already ahead of the game with more fuel efficient cars. Back when they were focused on making stupid inefficient cars instead of fuel efficient engines. People complain about gas when they purposely made the decision to live farther away from their work, even though their work is in a cheaper area to live. Oh because tehre is nothing to do there by living closer to work? Well that is your fault dont complain about it.
People don't connect the dots. We look to things like biofuel and ethanol to answer this gas issue? Again that is avoding the real problem of the fact that the big 3 US automakers can't make fuel efficient autos. So we look to biofuel and ethanol. The increase in ethanol, which the bush administration favors, is one of the main drivers of increased food prices as farmers plant less crops for nice fat profitable corn. Not corn for corn in your stomach but corn in your car because again GM complains to Washington that they keep losing money because they dont want to make their cars more fuel efficient because then their CEOs wont make 10+ million a year just so they can post another huge loss...
People blame the oil prices on the oil companies. Yes, Exxon has dealt some shady business dealings to keep output steady even though demand has skyrocketed. But guess what? The oil companies are publically traded companies with shareholders. You want lower gas prices. Shareholders want high stock prices and larger dividends. Your pension, 401k, mutual fund, whatever is probably all over oil stocks to keep themselves afloat. You go after big oil, then people sell their stock in them, the prices go down, your 401k goes down, etc. So what do you want? low gas prices or tax revenue from the bil oil, or gains on your stocks and 401k?
People blame the middle east for our gas issues. Right and wrong. Ok
yes OPEC controls gas prices BUT the US gets most of its gas from
outside the middle east like Mexico, Russia, Nigeria, etc. The middle
east is a problem because OPEC is basically the middle east and it sets
the prices for the rest of the world, so even though we dont buy that
much oil from the middle east, the middle east basically sets the
price. So the middle east is not the answer and yes we invaded iraq
mostly for the oil and not the war on terror or wmd because osama bin
laden and his top dogs are in the mountains of pakistan, not the
deserts of iraq. Be grateful we didnt invade because of wmds because
if we did that means we are just incomptent. i would rather be greedy
than incomptent.
So who is to blame? Well economics says there is no such thing as a free lunch. Meaning nothing is free, someone, somewhere is paying for it or will pay for it. We had our free lunch with cheap gas. We took it for granted, and the US automakers took advantage of it, the govt didnt even think about it as issue, and now we are paying for it.
I hate to say it folks but you have no one to blame but yourself. That includes me, my hands are not clean, but I saw this coming ALONG time ago. You cant just blame one thing and go after it. All of this is a culmination of events that are hitting us at the same time.
Oh and finally a little tip. Prices going up means what is $1 today will probably cost more than $1 tomorrow. So saying you dont want to go on vacation now because gas prices are too high is not that smart. If you wait it is only going to get more expensive. Prices will always increase, there is always some inflation. So you would want to go on vacation now while gas is 4.00 than say a year from now when gas is like 6 dollars. Get it? Actually the best option is always saving from the start and not starting to save when things are getting out of control. That is called being reactive and a reactive attitude is what got us all here in the first place! You can have a life, just plan and save first.
Now you shouldnt go if it requires you to borrow money or go bankrupt. If you want to go on vacation you better go now than later. Especially if you want to fly since half the US airlines probably wont even exist in 3 years and the ones that will be still around will have limited routes.
next lesson: increase in food prices and market forces.
